About the Role

Summit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS). The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions. The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation’s economy and protects life and property.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and sustainment for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications that covers the entire Software Development Lifecycle ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives.

  • Develop, debug, test, and document software written in Java, C++, Powershell, Python, Perl, Groovy, Bash, XML, etc.

  • Write and maintain automated tests.

  • Confer with systems engineers, test engineers, and other cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions to complex problems.

  • Support release planning, through level of effort estimates and tasking prioritization from experience and investigations.

  • Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment.

  • Provide mentoring to junior members of the team.


Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 10-12 years of Software Engineering experience with BS/BA, 8-10 with MS and 5-7 with PhD.

  • Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles.

  • Experience developing software using Java, C++, Python, Perl, Powershell, Bash etc.

  • Familiar with common software development tools including Git, Gradle, Ant, Jenkins, etc.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

  • Extensive experience with Windows OS.

  • Willing to learn new things.

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
